Users of addictive substances as victims of criminal activities - research among clients and patients of addiction services in Prague

Background: The topic of crime is interconnected with substance abuse users. While most studies and statistics focus on primary criminal activities and economically motivated crimes, the chapter on criminal activities committed against clients is underrepresented. Crime victimization statistics are brief, and limited information is available about them. Victimization studies, which provide some information in this field, often exclude substance abuse users, or their substance use is not the subject of inquiry. Literature suggests that victimization of substance abuse users is a complex issue that is linked to many other problems. Objectives: The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to map the prevalence of criminal activities committed against substance abuse users and to examine the relationships between general victim characteristics and the crimes committed against them. Another objective is to determine whether and how often they report these crimes, under what circumstances, and conversely, what obstacles prevent them from reporting. History of services in the care of persons using psychoactive substances in the Marianna Oranžská Psychiatric Hospital

Background: Marianna Oranžská Psychiatric Hospital was established in 1954 and is an important device that operates in treating persons using psychoactive substances. The concept of the device was constantly modernized, modified and nowadays it is a facility providing a wide range of addiction services. The hospital has built a reputation and is sought after by clients from all over the Czech Republic. Aims: Creation of a comprehensive description of the historical development of the facilities and services provided in the Marianna Oranžská Psychiatric Hospital from the establishment of the facility in 1954 to the present. Methods: This bachelor's thesis used qualitative research, including a content analysis of historical sources and professional publications that were thematically related to the relevant facility. Data from historical sources were processed using open coding. Results: In 1954 a Psychiatric Hospital was established in the village of Bílá voda with three wards, one of which was anti-alcohol. The first director of the hospital was MUDr. Bohumil Podařil until 1981, after which MUDr. Jiří Vařeka took his place. Mapping of provided addictological aftercare services for gerontoadictological clients in Jihočeský, Jihomoravský and Vysočina Region

Resources: Due to the demographic aging of the population in developed countries, the proportion of seniors in the population is increasing. This trend is also reflected in the adictology which we are increasingly meeting the target group addicted to addictive substances (gerontoadictology). The Czech republic has a relatively well-established network of services for addiction clients in which the residential care service has a justified place. It is focused on maintaining positive behavioral changes, gradual integration of s, which programmes and adaptations it has for them, or what are the gaps in the care of these clients.
